It’s been no secret that Sussex County’s real estate market continues to perform well – even well into the summer season! In July, the Sussex County Association of Realtors (SCAOR) released second quarter statistics detailing the latest achievements in our local housing market.
The report confirmed an upward trend seen in the last several years in this region. This past April through July, the sale of single-family homes, like those available at Bayside, rose more than 14% over measurements from the same time last year. Additionally, average sales prices increased by 12%, indicating that this area continues to grow as a desirable one to live in.
Brad Riedle, 2014 SCAOR president, voices his optimism and faith in the Sussex County real estate industry: “What we are seeing is a market that is showing continuous and sustained growth, and that’s what we’re looking for in this new economic environment. We’re feeling more confident with each passing quarter that we are on a good long-term path.” He continues on to note that SCAOR “looks forward to a strong second half of 2014 and beyond.”
Best of all, these positive trends aren’t isolated to the second quarter either; the entire first half of the year measured impressive gains. From January to July, over $469 million worth of real estate “changed hands” in Sussex County. Of this $469 million, over $350 million was from single-family homes!
