Summer may be long gone, but the fun continues at Bayside! Though the local beaches may be vacant, there is always something to do at Bayside—from golfing, to kayaking to events put on by the Bayside Institute. Autumn is a beautiful time of year in Delaware, and residents of Bayside are definitely taking advantage of it!
1. Golf at Bayside
This autumn, spend a morning on Bayside’s award winning Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. The golfing experience at Bayside is unparalleled, and without the regular summer vacationers the course is all yours!
Course designer Jack Nicklaus described the course as having, “three distinctly different golf experiences all in one golf course. Some holes are richly tree-lined, others wind through marshland and still others boast wide-open fairways. It is our hope that Bayside is truly a memorable golf experience offering variety rarely found elsewhere.” The course was recently named one of America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses of 2013/2014 by Gold Digest, and Golfweek’s 2013 “Best Courses You Can Play”.
In addition to playing a round of golf with a friend or practicing your swing on the back nine, Bayside’s Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course hosts a number of tours and events.
We recently hosted a Golf Course Environmental Tour earlier this month. The tour, lead by Bayside’s Superintendent Eric Hindes, was intended to educate golfers on the importance of wetlands, native areas and boundaries on golf courses. The tour also delved into the importance of being environmentally conscious and taught those in attendance how to become Audubon Certified. Check out Bayside’s website for more information.
2. Outdoor Activities at The Point
On The Water
The Point is home to a number of activities for Bayside residents to partake in including paddle boarding and kayaking, and features a screened pavilion, kayak launch site and dock. Kayaking or paddle boarding in autumn is a much more fun than in the summer—you don’t have to worry about getting sun burned!
Bayside Trails
Bayside offers miles of trails to hike through—some starting at The Point, snaking along the Ocean City skyline and through breathtaking wooded areas. Whether you are feeling up for a walk, jog or bike ride, Bayside’s trails are perfect for a cool autumn afternoon of fun and exercise! Check out Bayside’s website for a complete map of Bayside’s beautiful trails.
