WHAT IS PLEIN AIR?
In the world of Art, Plein Air is an expression from the French which means “in the open air,” and is used to describe the act of painting outdoors. Plein Air painting challenges artists to concentrate on the information in front them, and re-create their impression with paint onto canvas in the moment.
We invite you to take part in the Worcester County Arts Council’s premier art event, the 7th annual Paint Berlin, Plein Air. Each year in September, this event brings talented artists from across the region who grace our streets, sidewalks, and green spaces, providing our Community and visitors with the unique experience of seeing our surroundings through their eyes while preserving the best aspects of our community.
Artists will have an opportunity to network, exhibit, and sell their artwork as well as compete for a very attractive cash prizes: $1,000 – 1st Place, $500 – 2nd Place, $250 – 3rd Place, $100 – Honorable Mention, and $100 – Artists’ Choice award.
Entries submitted for the competition will be reviewed and judged by accomplished artist, ABIGAIL McBRIDE.
Visitors are invited to come and watch artists work during this event and attend the free and open to the public “Wet Paint” sale and exhibit to be held on Saturday, September 24, from 11 am to 3 pm featuring artwork created during this event.
Exhibit will continue to be on display until October 29th.
