First State, First Step: Delaware to the Moon (43 min.) documents the history of Delaware’s critical contribution to the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing—and man’s first step on the moon. DuPont textiles, Gore coated cabling, and ILC space suits were all developed ‘in Delaware by committed Delawareans’ some of who are still alive. Their interviews, combined with scholars and historians, provide an insight into how these Delawareans significantly contributed to Delaware history, science and innovation. This program was partially funded by a grant from Delaware Humanities, a state program of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
