Selbyville, DE – The Cove Bar & Grille at Bayside in Selbyville, DE announces that they have selected Operation Shooting Star (OSS), an Autoimmune Disease Advocacy organization, as their Dine and Donate partner for November 2019.
Every Sunday in November, The Cove Bar & Grille will be donating a percentage of their profits to Operation Shooting Star in honor of Autoimmune Disease Awareness month. Greg Fiore, Food and Beverage Director at Bayside Resort Golf Club, looks forward to partnering with Operation Shooting Star on their mission to raise awareness. “November has officially been named Autoimmune Disease Awareness month by the state of Delaware and we are always excited to partner with local organizations to raise awareness in our surrounding community. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), autoimmune diseases result from a dysfunction of the immune system. The immune system protects you from disease and infection. Sometimes, though, the immune system can produce autoantibodies that attack healthy cells, tissues, and organs. This can lead to autoimmune disease. NIH estimates 24 million Americans have one or more autoimmune diseases, and this does not count those suffering and living without a diagnosis, or that have been misdiagnosed. Autoimmune disease is also one of the top 10 leading causes of death in female children and women in all age groups up to 64 years of age. Moreover, it is estimated that annual direct health care costs in the United States for autoimmune disease is in the range of $100 billion.
It is the belief and mission of Operation Shooting Star that raising awareness of Autoimmunity and its diseases, the connection between them that this will help propel success in research across so many individual diseases.
