Not quite sure where the Fall of 2013 went ….. another holiday season is fast approaching and I feel like it was just yesterday that my wife and I were going to Back To School night!    Well, it’s a good time to look back on what’s happened in Bayside this past year and also to start getting excited about what’s to come in 2014.

Before I do that, though – I’m inviting you to join me for “Coffee Talk” (as you might guess, I’m an SNL fan) on Saturday, December 28 from 9-11am at The Cove.  It’ll be an informal gathering to share a cup of coffee and talk about what’s happening and, if you haven’t been there yet, to see just how great The Cove looks all decked out for the holidays.  What a tree!!!!  Many thanks to all the elves who helped make The Cove sparkle!

Looking back, 2013 certainly brought many changes to Bayside and set the stage for our future success.  Here are just a few of them:

  • Moved The Freeman Companies offices
  • Designed and built a new pool in the Sun Ridge Recreation Center
  • Partnered with new builders – Schell Brothers, Echelon Custom Homes and Marnie Custom Beach Homes
  • Continued our successful partnership with NV Homes
  • Developed and launched a new website
  • Opened our Sales and Information Center

I’m grateful to the entire Bayside Team for all their hard work and dedication– none of these events would have happened without them.   Borrowing a well-known phrase from one of my favorite holiday movies, “A Christmas Story”, I “double-dog dare you” to find a more enthusiastic and devoted group of people!

On another note, kudos to our own Patti Grimes, Executive Director of both the Carl M. Freeman Foundation and Joshua M. Freeman Foundation, on being named one of the Top Business Women in the State of Delaware in December’s Delaware Today Magazine! Patti has been a leader in both the Freeman Companies and the Freeman Foundations for many years and, under Patti’s leadership, The Freeman Stage, a program of the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation, will begin its 7th year in 2014!

Kudos also to Twig Burton, Project Manager for The Freeman Companies, who successfully completed the Marine Corp Marathon!  Well done, Twig!

Looking forward, there are quite a few items on the drawing board – including the finalization of our retail plans for the Route 54 parcels and the designing of our Town Center facility, home of the indoor pool and fitness facility.  Come to The Cove on December 28 to learn more!

And so, in closing, let me share my best wishes to all our Bayside families for health and happiness during this holiday season and always …. Take some time to just kick back, relax and enjoy those special times with family and friends.  Hope to see you on the 28th!
