Drink Pink & Learn the Latest Advances in Breast Health & Impact of a Healthy Lifestyle @ The Health & Aquatic Club
Oct 6 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Come out and “drink pink” (a delicious pink super smoothie) as we celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a great institute class to finish out our week of health education and prevention. The healthcare world is constantly evolving and advancing. We want you to stay informed and educated. We are thrilled to have Dr. Diana Dickson-Witmer present on the latest advances in breast health, the newest Rehoboth Beach location (and its offerings), and how our lifestyle can positively impact breast health.

Dr. Diana Dickson-Witmer is board certified in general surgery and specializes in breast surgery. She leads the Beebe Center for Breast Health.

Dr. Dickson-Witmer graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine. She also served a residency there, as well as at the Medical Center of Delaware, where she was chief surgical resident in 1982.

In addition to her surgical and patient care experience, Dr. Dickson-Witmer is known for her trailblazing work in the field of breast surgery – setting the standard and developing the programs to train future surgeons in the field.

In 1994, she introduced stereotactic breast core needle biopsy to Delaware, and trained radiologists and surgeons in the technique. In 1997, she published results of the first 100 stereotactic core breast biopsies done in Delaware. Dr. Dickson-Witmer also introduced sentinel node biopsy to the Delaware valley in 1999 and published the results of a pilot study of the first 50 cases done at Christiana Care.

10.16 / 10.23 / 10.30 / 11.6 / 11.13 / 11.20

Wind down your day with Sangha: a meditation incorporated with gentle movement. The word sangha is a Pali word most commonly translated as community or association. Traditionally (in the Pali Canon), the word sangha refers to the association of monks and nuns. In modern traditions, the word sangha includes laypeople.  Above all, our sangha can be seen simply as a community of individuals who are on a path…And aren’t we all?
Too often we feel isolated from others.  The sangha offers support and by participating we may offer support, kindness and connection to those around us. It may enable us to grow in ways that contribute to a healthy way of living.
The idea here is for us to gather for the purpose of creating a healthy practice, to include:

–Relaxation techniques
–Gentle stretching and beginning hatha yoga
–Mindfulness practice
–Establishing supportive connections with members of our community

During our gathering, comfort is important.  Each person is asked to bring a yoga mat and strap.  Note: all activities may be done while seated in a chair (which will be provided).

Each 60-90 minute session will vary; the schedule may include:

Arriving, introductions, and getting comfortable whether on a mat or in a chair. (10-15 minutes)

Gentle stretching (15-20 minutes)

Sitting meditation (10 minutes)

Offering of a teaching (10 minutes)

Neighborly Bonds; Chat, Connect & Walk with a Health Coach @ The Point - 38 Degrees
Oct 17 @ 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm

It’s “Movement” week and what better way to move your body than in your community, with your neighbors, chatting and connecting. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet new neighbors and get moving together. Community connection has powerful impacts on overall longevity. This has been proven through studies done in the Blue Zones. Check out the benefits of doing this community connect & walk.

  • Being outdoors helps expose you to Vitamin D – an immune booster
  • Being by the water helps boost mood, sleep quality, and mental health
  • Walking may help boost your immune system, lower blood sugar, and reduce joint pain

Your Lifestyle Manager (and Health Coach) will be joining you on this community connect and walk. She will encourage some creative and sustainable ways to add walking into your regular movement routine. Plus, we will have some fun giveaways at this connect and walk!

We will start our walk at The Point/38 Degrees. Grab a friend and come out to chat, connect and walk!

Meditation and Gentle Movement Oct. 23 – Nov. 20 @ The Health & Aquatic Club
Nov 20 @ 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Kicking off our October Wellness week theme – Self-Care & Movement with Janet Eshbach’s very popular Meditation and Gentle Yoga class. This will be a 5-part series class. Dates will be the following Monday evenings starting at 4:30 pm.

10.23 / 10.30 / 11.6 / 11.13 / 11.20

Comments and sharing (10-15 minutes)

Sea Glass Holiday Ornament Creations @ The Health & Aquatic Club
Nov 30 @ 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm

Make Beachy Sea Glass Ornaments to decorate your tree this year!

It takes seven years or more for a piece of glass in the ocean to be weathered and frosted over until it becomes sea glass. Since we use plastic more than glass now, sea glass has become harder to find. It is always fun and a valuable addition to add to jewelry, art projects or decorations for your home. This year make a selection of sea glass ornaments to celebrate the holiday season. During the project you will make 3 different ornaments. There are a number of ideas to choose from.

Our instructor Betsie McClimans will take you step by step through the creation process.

Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine while you craft.

$50 for Members, $55 for Extended Family Members or Guests of Bayside

Roths & A Rum Bar @ Signatures Board Room
Dec 8 @ 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Let’s imagine we’re sitting by the pool with a fruity drink in our hand, sun is hot, and the shade is cool. Now, let’s talk about roths. We’ve all heard of them, but did you know October 2022 there was a new act passed offering new opportunities? Join Comprehensive Financial Solutions to learn more about what is a roth, why is it relative in your situation, tax-free withdrawals and how you can still work on conversions but considering taxes during that time is key. Learning more about roths is much easier when the drink is cold and the rum is strong!

Meet us in the Signature’s boardroom for some rum and learn the latest about roths.
