Come out and “drink pink” (a delicious pink super smoothie) as we celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a great institute class to finish out our week of health education and prevention. The healthcare world is constantly evolving and advancing. We want you to stay informed and educated. We are thrilled to have Dr. Diana Dickson-Witmer present on the latest advances in breast health, the newest Rehoboth Beach location (and its offerings), and how our lifestyle can positively impact breast health.
Dr. Diana Dickson-Witmer is board certified in general surgery and specializes in breast surgery. She leads the Beebe Center for Breast Health.
Dr. Dickson-Witmer graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine. She also served a residency there, as well as at the Medical Center of Delaware, where she was chief surgical resident in 1982.
In addition to her surgical and patient care experience, Dr. Dickson-Witmer is known for her trailblazing work in the field of breast surgery – setting the standard and developing the programs to train future surgeons in the field.
In 1994, she introduced stereotactic breast core needle biopsy to Delaware, and trained radiologists and surgeons in the technique. In 1997, she published results of the first 100 stereotactic core breast biopsies done in Delaware. Dr. Dickson-Witmer also introduced sentinel node biopsy to the Delaware valley in 1999 and published the results of a pilot study of the first 50 cases done at Christiana Care.

Wind down your day with Sangha: a meditation incorporated with gentle movement. The word sangha is a Pali word most commonly translated as community or association. Traditionally (in the Pali Canon), the word sangha refers to the association of monks and nuns. In modern traditions, the word sangha includes laypeople. Above all, our sangha can be seen simply as a community of individuals who are on a path…And aren’t we all?
Too often we feel isolated from others. The sangha offers support and by participating we may offer support, kindness and connection to those around us. It may enable us to grow in ways that contribute to a healthy way of living.
The idea here is for us to gather for the purpose of creating a healthy practice, to include:
–Relaxation techniques
–Gentle stretching and beginning hatha yoga
–Mindfulness practice
–Establishing supportive connections with members of our community
During our gathering, comfort is important. Each person is asked to bring a yoga mat and strap. Note: all activities may be done while seated in a chair (which will be provided).
Each 60-90 minute session will vary; the schedule may include:
Arriving, introductions, and getting comfortable whether on a mat or in a chair. (10-15 minutes)
Gentle stretching (15-20 minutes)
Sitting meditation (10 minutes)

It’s “Health Eating” week and our final class of Wellness Month!
Making change, especially nutritional change is hard. Christi Davis (who is also a health coach) will show you how making 3 Steps to Wellness will help with making changes stick. We will be talking about food and beyond. It always comes down to the main fundamentals you are likely familiar with. Breaking them down into a more simplistic approach can help you make that change a lifestyle. This is going to be an interactive class. Come with a goal – optional to share with the group. And if you bring an accountability partner, you each get a special prize.
We will be providing a healthy snack during your workshop.
