August is a very popular month around the Delaware coast. The summer heat is at its hottest and people around the region are taking their vacations before they head back to school. August is also a great time for events around Fenwick Island. There’s plenty to do, and here’s just a glimpse of what’s to come:
Right on August 1st, the Fenwick Island Yacht Club is hosting its annual boat parade! Boats from the city will be decorated and parade along a specific route throughout the various canals and lagoons. It’s been a special event for over 30 years and this year should be no different!
On August 13th, the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the annual Lifeguard Award Celebration. This is the time when all of the local beach patrols get together in honoring the “Lifeguard of the Year” as nominated by their peers. It’s also the chance for the local community to celebrate the young men and women that keep our beaches clean and safe.
Wine lovers have some excellent events to look forward to. Every Wednesday in August, Fenwick Wine Cellars will be hosting an event called WineO Wednesday Craft Night. With the purchase of a $25 ticket, you’ll be given all the supplies you need to make the weekly craft, a glass of wine and a cheese plate. It’s the perfect way to make some new friends and have a little fun while doing it!
As always, there are many activities to do around the beach as well. Water sports such as kayaking, jet skis and paddle boarding are still available and you can visit one of the many restaurants or shops in the area. You can also get out your towel and beach umbrella and enjoy the great views in the city! Find something to do on Fenwick Island this summer and go exploring!
