Explore the elements of art and the principles of design in Fundamentals of Drawing. In this introductory lessons, suitable for both beginners and intermediate students, learn and practice techniques, skills and additional art concepts to develop your drawing skills. The class will begin with an introduction, where the objective is discussed, followed by a brief demonstration, and ample drawing practice with individual instruction, finishing with a group critique. All necessary supplies will be available for use, and the sketchbook will be yours to keep to continue your practice. You are welcome to bring your own supplies if you would like.

Supply list:

  • 2H to 6B graphite pencils
  • Drawing erasers (one white plastic eraser and one kneaded eraser)
  • Blending stump
  • Pencil sharpener
  • 9×12 sketchbook

302 Stories: Telling the Stories of Delaware’s People and Places

Join Bayside Institute for the first showing of five different documentaries. More damaging than Sandy, this powerful winter nor’easter pounded Delaware’s shoreline for three days and five successive high tides, destroying homes and businesses, flooding communities, and taking lives. Relive Delaware’s great 20th Century disaster, the weather events that spawned it, and reflect on the possibility of a similar storm occurring along Delaware’s coast today. (55 minutes)
